The Wichita Region is not only a great place to live, its a community with great job opportunities too!

  • Forbes.com ranked Wichita second in Best Cities For Jobs In 2008. The only city ahead of Wichita was Salt Lake City. Other cities to round out the top ten were: Austin, Atlanta, Fort Worth, Indianapolis, Houston, Omaha, Raleigh and Seattle. Forbes uses five criteria to rank the cities: job growth, income growth, median household income, unemployment rate and cost of living. It ranks the 100 largest metropolitan areas as defined by the Census Bureau, using data from Moody’s Economy.com. Wichita’s job growth rate was seventh highest, and its income growth was fifth highest, among the largest 100 metro areas. In cost of living, all the top ten cities except Wichita, Indianapolis and Omaha ranked 40th or below (Wichita ranked 7th, Omaha 11th and Indianapolis 12th.)
  • Wichita had several notable accolades in 2007, including second place ranking among mid-sized metros in Best Places for Relocating Families by Worldwide ERC-Primacy, and second place in Most Affordable Markets to Own a Home by Bizjournals.com. In 2006, Money magazine listed Wichita as one of the Best Big Cities in the Nation to Live, and Kiplinger’s listed Wichita as one of the Top 40 Places to Live among cities that are fun, vibrant and affordable.
